What is TOEFL?
TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. It is a recognized test of English Language efficiency for non-native English language speakers wishing to enrol in an English speaking country. It is designed and administered by ETS (Educational Testing service), private non- profit organization. TOEFL test is the most widely appreciated English-language test in the world. This test is acknowledged by more than 9,000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries, including Canada, Australia, the United States of America and United Kingdom. There are two ways in which TOEFL test can be administered:
TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) TOEFL PBT (Paper Based Test)
In most Centres worldwide, Internet based test is favoured but in a few places where testing via internet is not possible, paper-based test is also conducted. There are around 1275 test sites for TOEFL in more than 180 countries.

TOEFL score are valid for 2 years after the test date. There is no limit to the number of times, one can take the test but It cannot be taken more than once in a 12 days period. There are four different modules, each determining the necessary language efficiency that is used in the atmosphere of the academic.

Re-evaluation of Scores
You can request for TOEFL score review, if you are not satisfied with your result. You can have the speaking and writing sections of the test reviewed up to 30 days you take the test. Your scores can be reviewed only once. If you are willing to get both of your sections reviewed, then they would be required to do at the same time. If there happen to be any change in your TOEFL scores, then the reviewed scores will become your official scores.
Interpretation of Scores
You will be given scores based on your performance in the questions. You will be required to answer at least one question from the listening and reading sections, write one essay and complete at least one speaking task so that you get eligible to receive an official score. Since TOEFL iBT is administered via the Internet, therefore, you will receive four scaled section scores, which are given as below:- Reading- (Score- 0-30), Listening- (Score- 0-30), Speaking-(0-30), Writing – (0-30); Total Score- (0-120) Apart from your scores, the test taker report will also include performance feedback which reflects your performance in the test and description of the kinds of tasks that you have attempted.
Getting Your TOEFL Scores
you can view your scores online. You will receive an email highlighting when your scores would be made available. It usually takes around 10 days after your test date, when you can expect seeing TOEFL scores. To see TOEFL Scores, you would require logging into your TOEFL iBT account and click on “View Scores”, to see your scores. The printed score reports can be expected within 13 days after the test date.
